Regaining Energy as Busy Working Women: 5 Unhealthy Habits and How to Overcome Them

Whether it’s a 9-5 job or you are involved in a business process, waking up with a heavy head and a demotivated heart is common for most working women. Unfortunately, for many, this is not even occasional. The state of being stressed and tired is a very common pattern for most women.

Well, it’s easy to blame a busy schedule. But think again! Is it really your job that is killing your energy? Or something else?

What about the daily routine that you follow and the habits that keep you in the tired loop?

The kind we don’t notice at first. Over time, they quietly affect how the body functions.

Let’s look at a few of them.

1. Skipping Meals Without Realizing It

It doesn’t always look like “skipping meals.” Sometimes it’s just delaying breakfast. Or replacing lunch with coffee. Happens a lot during busy workdays.

But the body notices, and it does not always forgive.

We have seen women skipping their meals just to be on time at work or covering up their faults with the routine. But this is not the right approach to deal with your life.

When you are irregular with your breakfast or any other meal, your blood sugar levels start to fluctuate. And the result: Fatigue!

Apart from that, some other factors will trigger as well, like:

● Vertiginous

● Diverted

● Anxious

So what is the solution to Skipping Meals? Nothing complicated. Just consistency. Eat when you need to and eat proper food. Instead of junk foods, try fruits, boiled eggs, nuts, and dry fruits. Dont expect to feel energetic on the first day, but you will eventually see results that will be steady.

2. Sleep That Isn’t Really Restful

You might be getting 6–7 hours of sleep. Still feel tired. Why?

Because sleep quality matters more than just duration.

What habits are dangerous and stopping you from having a good sleep?

● Late-night scrolling

● Unwanted stress

● Irregular bedtimes

Note: in women, hormonal changes are high, which increases the chances of these habits.

What can help increase sleep Quality?

It’s simple, your routine again.

● Go to bed early and maintain the routine with consistency.

● Try to stop using your mobile or any screen 30 minutes before you go to bed.

● Embrace quiet time. Read books. This environment will help you fall asleep sooner.

3. Relying Too Much on Quick Energy Fixes

Coffee helps. No doubt. But when it becomes the main source of energy, things shift. Too much intake of caffeine does not work anymore for the body. As a result, you will get a sudden burst every time, but that will be followed by a crash of energy for the whole day.

Some women also explore alternatives like vaping, assuming it may be a lighter option. Well, an electronic cigarette starter kit can be your savior from traditional and dangerous smoking habits. But even with these substitutes, nicotine affects the body. From increasing your heart rate to disturbing your sleeping practices, nicotine can be a source of long-term fatigue.

What can help?

Instead of cutting everything at once, reduce gradually. Replace one cup of coffee with water or herbal tea. Small shifts are easier to maintain.

4. Sitting for Too Long

A typical workday often means sitting. Hours go by. Movement becomes minimal.

Over time, this slows circulation. Muscles stiffen. Energy dips.

It’s not just about exercise. It’s about movement throughout the day.

What can help?

Stand up every hour. Stretch. Walk for a few minutes. Even light movement can improve how you feel. A short evening walk can also reset your energy.

5. Ignoring Mental Fatigue

Physical tiredness is easier to notice. Mental fatigue? Not so much.

It builds slowly. Deadlines. Responsibilities. Constant switching between roles—professional and personal.

Eventually, it shows up as exhaustion.

What can help?

Pause, even briefly. Deep breathing. Writing your thoughts down. Talking to someone you trust. These are small but effective ways to release mental pressure.

Looking at the Bigger Picture

Energy doesn’t come from one single habit. It’s a combination of many small things working together.

● Food

● Sleep

● Movement

● Stress

When one area is off, others get affected too. Apart from that, fatigue becomes consistent, and a doctor’s check-up becomes an obvious factor. Sometimes, issues such as low iron levels or thyroid imbalances can be involved.

Dont Expect Instant Fix, Focus on Long-Term Habits

There’s no perfect routine or instant fix. But small, consistent changes do work. Slowly, but surely.

Working women mostly manage multiple responsibilities. For them, restoring energy is a must. So, now is the time to change your lifestyle and stay satisfied with a complete day, even after managing all your responsibilities.
